A journey through the middle east (part 3)

Following an enjoyable evening in Aqaba, my mind was set on one thing only, swim in the Red Sea, but first, hot coffee on the rooftop to watch the sunrise over the red hills, it was one of those mornings, when I wished I had slept outside, gazing at the stars. Coffee, check, beautiful sunrise, check, breakfast, not check. I was hungry and very much willing to get my lazy ass moving, but what was the point of eating breakfast alone when I had 5 people who I could share it with, I didn’t know if they were morning persons...

Israel, Jordan and Palestine, the arabian trio (Part 2)

As all good things must come to an end, so did our sleep, disturbed by the alarm from hell. I wasn’t really tired, so I decided to have my morning coffee on the terrace to watch the sunrise over Tel-Aviv. The initial plan was to visit Israel and spend a few more days before heading to Jordan, there was just one minor detail we didn’t take into account, the Shabbat which, in layman terms, means stores and transportation would be closed from Friday evening until Saturday at noon, cutting off more than two days from the trip. Well, if it’s Shabbat,...

The Crazy Road to Arizona (Adam, Nathan, Amanda)

As I stated before, the next couple days of this journey to Arizona became crazy, extreme, and downright stupid….and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I was a day ahead of schedule at this point in time, and I really didn’t know what I wanted to do. So I called up Laura and ask her what I should do now that I am heading towards Arizona. She told me I should head to the Grand Canyon in Arizona and take lots of pictures, and that’s what I did. Most of the drive there was the same, so I’m...

Israel, Jordan and Palestine, the arabian trio (Part 1)

Some time two years ago, I had the trip of my life, by going to the North of Africa and experiencing what I like to call, the Arabian dream in Morocco. Time passed, new and better experiences made their way into my memory, but the feeling of endless freedom couldn’t be appeased, no matter how much I travelled in Europe. It was time to scratch my travel itch with a new journey. 2015 was a year full of travels, but all of them have been inside Europe. Don’t get me wrong, I am thankful for all the opportunities presented, but...

A day of fortunate events in Florence (Day 2 / Part 1)

It’s Saturday morning, I’m in Florence and first thing in my mind is why the hell am I awake at 9:00 in the morning? During the week I’m struggling to get up early and now what? It’s weekend and I can’t even sleep properly? Is this a habit now? what kind of irony is this!? Heh, I know it might sound a bit over-dramatic and I bet this happens quite often to many of us. OK, I’m awake and I take my fully charged phone along with a city map that I’ve grabbed from the hostel reception last night and...

Road to Colorado / California (pit stop/Jay)

I apologize in advance as the next couple entries may be slightly on the longer side. I wake up pretty early as my planned pit stop was about a 19 hour drive. This would be one of the longest drives that I do this entire trip. I lost count of how many coffees and energy drinks I had, but it was probably enough caffeine to kill a horse. As I was driving through Illinois, It started to open up and become peaceful. I also started to notice a slight change in the music as I was heading further out west...

Plaiul Nucului – The stuff fairy-tales are made of (Part 2)

When in doubt, take a vacation – this quote can be a motto in life, one that has proven to be true every single step of the way or should I say, the journey. The worst thing in the morning after drinking enough booze for several people is waking up, feeling your head heavy and say: “I’m never drinking again”, but that’s just until the next time. Well, getting out of the house after training for the 100m hurdles, over the sleeping people was in itself a challenge, but as all challenges, you receive a small reward at the end....

The Road to Illinois (Chris and Laura)

So my Journey begins in Illinois. The drive from Jersey….long and dark. I did pass a sign in Pennsylvania that was for a town called Jersey Shore, which kind of threw me off. The sun just began to come up as I was working my way though Indiana, and let me tell you… it is flat and boring and had lots of cornfields. Once I finally got out of there and into Illinois, the first exciting area I see is Chicago. Now being from Jersey the only city I really ever seen is NYC. So seeing a new city skyline...

Born in the USA

I’m a twenty something year old on a journey of adventure and soul searching to find his true self. I’m not the most adventurous or outgoing type….. at least until October of 2015. I’ve always said I wanted to travel, but was scared to do it alone, or even with people. I grew up in a small town in the middle of nowhere New Jersey. (No, New Jersey is not summed up as the Jersey shore…Newark…Camden…etc) I was always shy and not confident as my best friend from childhood turned against me and wouldn’t defend the onslaught of the rest...

Plaiul Nucului – The stuff fairy-tales are made of (Part 1)

Like all fairytales begin, once upon a time in a kingdom far far away…well, not so far, about 180 km from the city I live in, Bucharest, there was Plaiul Nucului, the place where our story begins. It was your average September day and I was surfing the internet when a Facebook event caught my eye saying “Autumn trekking to Plaiul Nucului“. Now the idea of going trekking in this area wasn’t a particularly new one, but there was never really time for it, at least not until now. The time slot fitted like a glove in my October schedule. Let’s...
